EFE Scaling & Sustainability Assessment

Background

Education for Employment (EFE) Egypt provides underprivileged and unemployed Egyptian youth with the skills and opportunities necessary for formal entry into the labor market. Through private sector partnerships and an annual market needs analysis, EFE Egypt creates original curricula and delivers training programs that respond directly to market needs and the needs of private sector employers

EFE‘s aim from this assignment was to increase the scale and sustainability of its program, which successfully tackled the issue of youth employment. The objective of the project is to support EFE in reaching a wider impact, through taking a phased approach starting with assessing and recommending ways to widen its employers’ network, increase efficiency in internal operations, transform into a sustainable business model and expand its reach through utilizing indirect channels.

The CID Response

CID conducted a study on the pathways for EFE Egypt to scale up programming through streamlined and increased partnerships in the digital jobs arena and IT/BPO sector and proposed changes to EFE Egypt organizational structure to achieve the required growth in scale. Furthermore, CID provided EFE with a business model that would enable its financial sustainability in such a way that would limit the organization’s reliance on donor funding and assessed how EFE’s intellectual assets can be leveraged in new ways through indirect channels.

The Result

CID Consulting employed its already existing know-how to produce a comprehensive set of assessments as well as an action plan. The outcomes of the assessment empowered EFE in determining specific operational and programmatic investments, widening its scope of operations and moving the country’s labor market forward through its already successful programs.
