Communications Officer

The Communications Officer will work closely with the Communications Lead in implementing an effective project communications strategy. This involves ensuring strategic visibility of all project activities and outputs, meeting all USAID reporting requirements, effectively communicating project impact on the different platforms to project stakeholders and beneficiaries, and guiding project development and reporting on activities that are impactful, representative, and highly visible.

Under the supervision of the Communications Lead, the Communications Officer will be responsible for:

Project Reporting:

  • Implement and oversee the communications strategy, both for project beneficiaries and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with all project leads to aggregate all project achievements and results quarterly.
  • Draft, format, and edit reports to inform USAID about activities, objectives, and results, including annual work plans, quarterly performance reports, annual reports, weekly highlights and the final report.
  • Travel to project satellite offices in Greater Cairo, Upper Egypt and the Delta Region, to oversee the communications strategy and ensure delivery in line with project objectives.

Production of Project Visibility Material:

  • Work with project technical leads, and field offices to identify successful interventions, support visible project implementation and effectively communicate project impact to beneficiaries and stakeholders.
  • Capture and develop success stories for USAID reporting and social media platforms.
  • Oversee the work of contracted vendors in the area of communications and public outreach and ensure the quality of products delivered.
  • Provide support in managing the Project’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel. Use the two platforms to share, disseminate, and promote Project’s program events, communications materials, achievements, success stories, films, animated videos, and lessons learned, in line with USAID’s marking and branding guidelines.

Managing Project Events:

  • Provide support in managing the project’s events and high-profile visits, including but not limited to developing agendas, preparing all promotional material such as backdrops, handouts and roll-ups, documenting the events, and producing videos and relevant audiovisual material.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Provide communications support in other areas as needed/requested by the Communications Lead.
  • Ensuring adherence to the project and USAID’s branding and marking guidelines apply throughout all of the above tasks.

TIMEFRAME AND PROPOSED LOE:

The proposed Level of Effort (LOE) for this position is full-time throughout the project’s life. Effective start date is October 1st , 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Education level and degree type: bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, international affairs, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

·        A minimum of five years of relevant work experience.

·        Comprehensive communications experience in local and international partners, including experience on USAID-funded projects is a must.

·        Strong communications approaches for planning, executing, and monitoring communications strategies.

·        Adaptability, drive and personal leadership with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and independently.

·        Strategic thinker with a creative mindset and a keen eye for detail.

·        Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form professional relationships and collaborate effectively.

·        Well-developed analytical writing skills, communications, and interpersonal skills.

·        Proficiency with MS Office software.

·        Excellent English and Arabic writing, speaking, and reading skills.

·        Readiness for frequent travel for project-related activities is required.
