Gender Analyst

Women play a key role in Egypt’s horticulture sector, particularly in processing firms and pack houses, and considering their priorities and constraints will be key to achieving the Project’s objectives. Similarly, farm-level participation in decisions regarding investment or new crop choices are often made by husbands and wives together, but the information that informs decisions is most often targeted at men. Led by Gender Integration Lead Ms. Ghada Hammam, the Project is integrating women and family units as agents of change, and give women more exposure to resources and information so that they can enhance their roles in all parts of the value chain. In any farm-level training we emphasize the level of participation decision-making, such as family budgeting for farm investment for both men and women with knowledge.
